2 Cancer institutes coming up at Rs 240 crore in Jammu, Srinagar

SRINAGAR: Two new cancer institutes at a cost of Rs 240 crore will be setup in the twin capital cities of Jammu and Srinagar in the State, which has witnessed an increase in cancer cases in the last four years.

Minister for Health and Medical Education Bali Bhagat, who was replying to a question in Legislative Assembly today, informed the House that the Central Government has sanctioned two new cancer institutes for the state at the cost of Rs 120 crore each.

The Minister said that two Cancer Institutes will come up at Government Medical College, Jammu and S K Institute of Medical Sciences (SKIMS), Soura, Srinagar. He said, besides this, three tertiary cancer care centers are also being sanctioned by Union Government for establishment in the identified districts at Kupwara, Kishtwar and Udhampur. (AGENCIES)
