KATHUA, July 11: Two boys hailing from Kathua today drown in a nallah in Mahanpur area of Basohli today.
These boys had gone to maternal grand parents’ home (Nanihal) at Mahanpur during summer vacations. Police said 17-year-old Shubam, son of Romesh Chander, resident of Taloor village near Nagri had gone to Nanihal. He also took his friend Sunil Kumar, son of Darshan Kumar of Shahidi Chowk Kathua, with him.
These boys left for bathing in the nearby Khud. There was deep still water at a point and the boys started bathing. They did not know how to swim. As one of them started drowning, the second started helping him and both drowned. A minor boy grazing cattle at some distance noticed it and rushed to the village to tell about the incident.
The family members of Vijay Kumar (Mamu) and others rushed to the spot. They found both the bodies floating and fished them out. The police was also informed. The bodies were sent for postmortem and then handed over to the family. Both the bodies were then shifted to Kathua this evening.
