2 arrested in firing case

JAMMU, Jan 12: Police arrested two persons in firing case, in which a BJP leader had escaped unhurt.
As per police sources, on January 8 this year at around 1755 hours, a Scorpio car bearing registration number JK02CD-0799 parked at Qasim Nagar came under fire by unidentified persons with a pistol.
There was no loss of life or injury in the incident as the vehicle owner Liaqat Ali son of Showket Ali, a resident of Raika Bagh-e-Bahu district Jammu was purchasing house goods from Narwal market. Ali is said to be a BJP worker. Police reached the spot and started the investigations.
“Preliminary investigations indicate that the attack was not linked to militancy. Those who have carried out the attack will soon be behind the bars,” a senior police official had claimed.
He informed that a case FIR Number 4/2021 under Sections 307, 147, 148 and 149 IPC and 3/25 Arms Act has been registered at Police Station Bagh-e-Bahu and investigations initiated.
During the course of investigation, two persons identified as Ravinder, a resident of Nanak Nagar and Raju, a resident of Chatha have been arrested.
“Hunt is going on to arrest three more persons involved in the case”, police official said.
