JAMMU, Mar 15: Senior Citizens Rejuvenation Centre (SCRC) here today in collaboration with State Organ and Tissue Transplant Organisation (SOTTO) organised an awareness camp on organ donation.
The chief guest on this occasion was Sohail Kazmi, senior journalist and the function was presided over by Ashok Gupta, chief patron SCRC while renowned educationist and SCRC chief advisor, I.D Soni also graced the function.
The welcome address was delivered by S.C Verma, SCRC advisor.
Kasturi Lal, president J&K Confederation of Voluntary Social and Charitable Organisation was the special guest and he came from Mendhar for this event.
The programme started with Guru Vandana by K.S Samyal, president SCRC followed by a poem by Dr. Shreyansh Kumar Jain, State Yoga Commissioner.
Speaking on the occasion, Joint Director SOTTO, Dr. Sanjeev Puri talked on the importance of organ and tissue donation.
The session also included detailed discussion on the brain stem death declaration and the process of taking a donor pledge.
In answer-question session Chaman Lal Sharma, Sansar Chand Gupta, L.L Mengi, K.S Samyal, S.K Jain and A.K Khajuria participated.
The SCRC president, K.S Samyal hailed the efforts of T.R Puri, vice president of the Centre for this event.
Romesh Chander, treasurer was also present. Vote of thanks was delivered by T.C Taggar.
