19 bovines rescued, 2 smugglers arrested

RAJOURI, Aug 2: Rajouri Police thwarted two separate bovine smuggling attempts in the jurisdictions of Police Station Kandi and Police Station Thanamandi rescuing a total of 19 bovine animals.
In the first instance, a police naka party from PS Kandi while on duty at Mohra intercepted a group of 13 bovines being smuggled on foot towards Kashmir without any valid permission.
On spotting the police party, the accused person fled from the spot. He was later identified as Zahir Khan, son of Missri Khan, resident of Kandi Rajouri and was arrested.
The bovine animals were rescued. In this connection a case FIR number 94/2025 U/S 223 BNS & 11 PCA Act has been registered at PS Kandi.
In another success, the police team of PS Thanamandi rescued six bovines which were being smuggled on foot towards Kashmir. The accused identified as Mohd Sadiq, son of Lal Din , resident of Churung Rajouri, was arrested on the spot.
In this regard a case FIR No. 101/2025 U/S 223 BNS & 11 PCA Act has been registered at PS Thanamandi.
