JAMMU, Jan 15: Continuing its war against drugs, SOG Jammu District today achieved a success by recovering 175 kilogram poppy straw and arresting a narcotic smuggler who was carrying the contraband to outside the State in a truck at Nagrota this evening.
As per police sources, the sleuths of Component Police in association with team from Nagrota Police Station laid a joint naka at Nagrota.
During checking of vehicles, a truck bearing registration number JK13A-4029 was stopped and during comprehensive search of the vehicle, 175 kilograms of poppy straw which was concealed in bags and specially designed chambers inside the body of vehicle was recovered.
The drug peddler identified as Nitin Sharma (30), son of Baldev Raj of Village Dablehar Tehsil RS Pura was arrested on the spot.
A case under FIR Number 36/19 under section 8/15 NDPS Act has been registered at Police Station Nagrota and investigation started.
The whole exercise was monitored by SSP SOG Jammu Sandeep Mehta and was carried out under the supervision of SSP Jammu Tejinder Singh .
