JAMMU, July 5: With rush of yatris increasing day by day, 17, 086 pilgrims performed darshan at holy cave of Swami Amarnath on the day eight of yatra today. With this a total of 93,151 pilgrims have paid obeisance at holy cave in Lidder Valley of South Kashmir since the 45 day long yatra started on June 28.
This was stated by an official spokesman here today. He said the weather was fine throughout the day and 14,743 yatris left for holy cave via Baltal while 4,280 left via traditional Pahalgam Chandanwari track today.
He said those yatris who could not embark on darshan due to inclement weather and rains yesterday left via Baltal today.
He said out of 93,000 yatris 75,000 have reached Summer Capital after performing darshan in holy cave while others are on way.
Meanwhile one more pilgrims died today after performing darshan at holy cave due to cardiac arrest. He was identified as Jagir Kumar Pawal, 28, of Gujarat. With this the total number of pilgrims who died during last eight days of yatra reached nine, the spokesman added.
The spokesman said the on spot registration is also proceeding smoothly. A large number of people are obtaining yatra permits from the yatra registration counters set up at Vaishnavi Dham, Saraswati Dham, Jammu Haat, Geeta Bhawan, Jammu and TRC Nowgam in Srinagar of Kashmir valley.
Meanwhile, a fresh batch of 24 89 pilgrims left Jammu Yatri Niwas early this morning under tight security for holy cave.
They included 1812 male, 543 female, 34 children and 100 Sadhus. All of them have crossed Jawahar Tunnel and were proceeding towards holy cave. The Yatra was delayed for some hours after one bus developed a snag at Ramban. Later district administration Ramban replaced the bus by another one and the yatra was restored.
