UDHAMPUR, June 13: Continuing its drive against smuggling of narcotic and psychotropic substances, Police Party of Police Station Chenani today apprehended two drug peddlers and seized 170 kg of poppy straw from their possession.
The poppy straw was being smuggled in a truck bearing Registration Number PB65 A 3972, which was intercepted by Police during naka checking at Motorshed Chenani.
During search, 170 kg of poppy straw like substance was recovered from the truck. Police arrested the truck driver namely Bagga, son of Ram Lok of Hoshiarpur, Punjab and his associate Ravi Dutt, son of Jagan Nath of Roopnagar.
Police seized the recovered poppy straw as well as the truck and registered a case FIR Number 75/2020 U/S 8/15/29 NDPS Act at PS Chenani.
