UDHAMPUR, Nov 13: In a major crackdown on illegal activities, Udhampur Police has got 17 driving licences cancelled of individuals involved in drug peddling and bovine smuggling activities, in coordination with the Transport Commissioner.
The action follows instances where the accused had misused their vehicles for transporting drugs and bovine illegally.
Meanwhile, Udhampur Police attached another vehicle worth Rs 10 lakh belonging to a drug peddler under the provisions of the NDPS Act.
During the investigation of case FIR number 173/2024 , under section 8/21/22 NDPS Act of PS Rehambal, it was found that the accused Furkhan Riyaz Wani, son of Riyaz Ahmed Wani, resident of Gulabbagh, Udhampur had acquired a vehicle bearing registration number JK01AV-3198 from proceeds of narcotic trade.
Accordingly, the said vehicle has been attached under Section 68(F) of the NDPS Act for further legal proceedings.
