Doda, July 4: Under the direction of DC Doda, Vishesh Mahajan, ARTO Doda Rajesh Gupta, and his team executed an early morning enforcement drive on the National Highway, resulting in the thorough inspection of over 100 vehicles to identify and address various violations.
The team worked diligently, meticulously examining each vehicle’s documents and physical condition to ensure strict adherence to traffic rules. The primary focus of the operation was to tackle overloading, prevent the driving of overloaded vehicles, and enforce the mandatory use of Speed Limit Devices. Furthermore, the drivers were sensitized about the significance of operating only roadworthy vehicles on this route.
During the rigorous checking, the MVD Doda team issued challans to 16 vehicles for a range of traffic rule violations. These infractions included non-functional Speed Limit devices, alterations in seating capacity, failure to use seatbelts and helmets, lack of route permits, unfit vehicles, missing High-Security Registration Plates (HSRP), Overheight vehicles, Overloaded vehicles, and carrying goods on passenger vehicles. Additionally, 19 vehicles were compounded for their offenses and a total fine of Rs. 24,000 was collected on the spot, further contributing to the team’s efforts in maintaining road safety.
The successful enforcement drive is projected to generate a substantial revenue of Rs. 2 lakhs from the issued challans. Moreover, due to the use of a mobile phone while driving, one driver’s license has been recommended for suspension. These stringent actions and penalties serve as deterrents, aiming to discourage individuals from engaging in risky behaviours on the road and promoting compliance with traffic regulations.
