16 Nepalese nationals rescued from online scam centres in Cambodia

KATHMANDU, Mar 12: Sixteen Nepalese nationals trafficked to Cambodia on the pretext of getting lucrative jobs were rescued and repatriated on Thursday, according to the foreign ministry here.
They were taken to Cambodia by various agents and employed in illegal jobs, including online scamming and online casinos.
The Nepal embassy in Bangkok aided their rescue with the cooperation of the Cambodian government, according to Foreign Ministry sources.
All 16 Nepalese nationals returned home safely on Thursday, according to the sources.
Many other Nepalese nationals still work illegally in Cambodia in severe working conditions, and efforts are being made to rescue them, the ministry said.
A lot of them are working without a visa or overstaying after their visa has expired. (PTI)
