JAMMU, Aug 23: Sixteen persons were injured after a bus in which they were travelling veered off the road and overturned into a field in the Arnia sector this morning.
According to reports, the mishap occurred when a passenger bus (registration number JK02CF-9907), packed with commuters and heading towards Jammu city, lost balance while crossing a narrow and congested bridge at Kalayan village. The bus skidded off the road and overturned in a nearby field.

Around 16 passengers, including men, women and children, sustained injuries in the accident. The victims were initially rushed to a nearby Government hospital where they were given first aid before being referred to Government Medical College and Hospital (GMC&H), Jammu, for further treatment.
The victims have been identified as Tania Saini (23) of Arnia, Rajni Saini (37) of Arnia, Dolly Devi (40) of Pindi Charka (Arnia), Hina Kaith (20) of Arnia, Nandni (18) of Ward 10 (Arnia), Amit Sharma (42) of Ward 6 (Arnia), Karan Kumar (32) of Ward 13 (Arnia), Madan Lal (58) of Ward 12 (Arnia), Ashu (2) of Ward 6 (Arnia), Sukinder Singh (50) of Koor (Arnia), Harsh Kumar (16) of Arnia, Abhi Kumar (19) of Arnia, Sukesh Saini (40) of Arnia, Kishore Kumar (36) of Arnia, Harshita (2½) of Arnia, Ravi Kumar (19) of Arnia and Vinod Kumar (37) of Arnia.
Police have taken cognizance of the matter and further investigation into the cause of the accident is underway.
