REASI, Dec 10: In a major strike against drug peddlers, District Police Reasi booked 16 notorious drug peddlers and lodged them in District Jail Reasi.
According to Police, teams of District Police Reasi raided different hotspots for drug peddling and picked up 10 suspected drug peddlers from Reasi town and six from Katra town. All the accused were booked in preventive sections of BNS and lodged in judicial custody.
These alleged drug peddlers are; Surinder Singh, son of Prem Singh of Parthal; Yash Pal Singh son of Joginder Singh of Serwad Katra; Vikram Singh son of Rumal Singh of Gunni Parthal Katra; Rakesh Kumar, son of Bishan Dass of Shiba, Tehsil Nagrota Jammu; Shakeel Wani, son of Showkat Wani of Ujh Pul, Tehsil Ramkote Kathua; Jeevan Kumar, son of Mohan Lal of Matyal Katra; Ghulam Ali, son of Abdul Kareem of Kans Khasan, Reasi; Rouf Mir, son of Mohd Iqbal of Muslim Mohalla Reasi; Ganesh Kumar alias Gavi, son of Prabhu Dyal of Seela, Reasi; Tabrez Hussain, son of Mohd Iqbal of Ward No. 7, Muslim Mohalla Reasi; Abhijeet Singh, son of Jamal Singh of Kundran A/P Naibasti Reasi; Sanjay Kumar son of Chet Ram of Seela, Reasi; Bablu Kumar son of Sham Lal of Aghar Ballian, Reasi; Deepak Kumar, son of Chander Shekhar of Shiv Nagar, Reasi; Manik Sharma, son of Yashpal Sharma of Trintha, Reasi and Sahil Rajput, son of Lehar Singh of Nai Basti, Reasi.
Earlier also, they had been booked in various drug peddling cases and were continuously supplying drugs to the youth of Reasi and Katra town. They were arrested and booked by the orders of Executive Magistrates Reasi and Katra.
Sharing the details, SSP Reasi, Paramvir Singh conveyed that on the one hand Reasi Police is taking punitive actions against drug peddlers who are being booked in NDPS Act, on the other hand preventive action is being taken against suspected drug peddlers which is required to save our future generations.
The SSP further added that in coming days more such actions will be taken by Reasi Police, which will leave no stone unturned to save youth of the district.
