16 bovines with 3 vehicles seized

RAJOURI/UDHAMPUR, June 4: The police seized three vehicles loaded with 16 bovine animals in Rajouri and Udhampur area and arrested two smugglers in this connection.
Official sources said that Rajouri police led by SHO Abid Hussain Shah intercepted two vehicles bearing registration numbers JK11G-4728 driven by Ajaz Ahmed, son of Mohd Din resident of Bhella Khawas and JK11G-1805 driven by Tufail Ahmed son of Ghulam Qadir, resident of Treru Rajouri.
During checking a total of eight(08) bovine animals were found being transported without any requisite permission or valid documentation. Both individuals were arrested on the spot and the vehicles involved in the illegal activity were seized.
In this connection a case FIR No. 290/25 has been registered under relevant sections of law at Police Station Rajouri and investigation is underway to ascertain the involvement of other individuals or networks in this illegal trade.
Meanwhile, a police team of Police Station Rehambal led by SHO Purab Singh while performing vehicle checking at Phalata signalled a vehicle bearing regd No. JK14E-8153 for checking purposes. Driver abandoned the vehicle and fled. Upon checking, 08 bovines were found tied cruelly inside the vehicle. All the bovines were rescued and shifted to a safer place.
In this regard, case FIR No. 74/2025 under relevant sections of law stands registered at Police Station Rehambal.
