16 bovines rescued, two smugglers arrested

UDHAMPUR, July 22: Police have foiled another bovine smuggling bid under the jurisdiction of Police Station Majalta and Police Post Tikri and rescued16 bovines which were being transported to Kashmir valley, here today.
Police naka party of PS Majalta established a naka at Manwal area for checking of vehicles, headed by SHO PS Majalta, Sohan Singh Bandral. During the checking, the police party stopped a vehicle (Dumper) bearing registration numbers JK19 4359 and found that nine bovines were loaded and were rescued from the said vehicle and arrested the driver namely Farid Ahmed son of Siraj Din resident of Sudhmahadev as well as his vehicle was also seized.
Meanwhile, Police party of Police Post Tikri led by Inspector Rajesh Sharma (PS Rehambal) and assisted by PSI Abdul Satar I/C PP Tikri intercepted a vehicle bearing registration number JK14H 1272 and rescued seven bovines at Trkri naka point and smuggler namely Mohd Sher son of Mohd Hanief resident of Gujjar Basti Mandal got arrested.
In this connection FIR under relevant sections stands registered in both the Police Stations.
The overall drive was conducted under the supervision of SSP Udhampur Dr Vinod Kumar.
