UDHAMPUR, Oct 6: Police foiled two separate attempts of bovine smuggling and rescued 16 animals, under the jurisdiction of Police Station Chenani.
While performing Naka checking duty at Motor Shed NHW Chenani, Police signalled a vehicle (Mahindra Bolero Pickup, Regd. No. JK19A-3191) to stop, which was on its way from Udhampur towards Srinagar.
The driver stopped the vehicle a few meters ahead and fled from the spot. Upon checking, seven bovine animals were found loaded in a cruel manner for illegal transportation towards Kashmir without DM permission.
Accordingly a case FIR number 98/2025 U/S 223 BNS, 11 PCA Act was registered at PS Chenani and investigation.
In another similar incident, same police party intercepted an Auto Load Carrier bearing Regd. No. JK14H-2874, driven by Sadiq Ahmed Ludha son of Bashir Ahmed Ludha of Omu Gujjar Basti, Verinag, A/P TRT Nagrota Jammu.
On checking of the auto, nine bovine animals were found being transported towards Kashmir without valid DM permission.
In this regard, a case FIR No. 99/2025 U/S 223 BNS, 11 PCA Act has been registered at PS Chenani.
