UDHAMPUR, May 18: Police rescued 16 bovines in two separate incidents under the jurisdiction of Police Station Udhampur and also arrested the alleged smugglers.
A Truck JK20B-1006 was intercepted at Jakhani, NHW by the Police team. In the truck, 10 bovines were found tied cruelly, which were being smuggled to Kashmir. All bovines were rescued even as the truck driver managed to escape from the spot.
In other success, a Tata Mobile JK14K-6279 was stopped at Jakhani naka Point, NHW and six bovines were found laden in the vehicle. Driver Abdul son of Qasim of Mansar Charawa, Majalta was arrested on the spot while all the bovines were rescued.
Two FIRs in this connection have been registered at Police Station Udhampur.
