UDHAMPUR, Feb 16: Police foiled an attempt of bovine smuggling and rescued 16 bovines besides arresting the accused smuggler.
These bovines were being smuggled in a Truck JK02BK-4672), which was intercepted by a Police team of Police Station Udhampur, led by SHO Raghuvir Singh, while performing vehicle checking duty at Jekhani naka point. During checking, 16 bovines were found laden inside the vehicle, in a cruel manner and without any valid permission.
Driver of the vehicle, namely Wajid, son of Nazakat Ali of Verinag, Srinagar, was arrested on the spot. All the bovines were rescued and shifted to a safer place.
In this regard, a case FIR under relevant sections of law has been registered at Police Station Udhampur.
