UDHAMPUR, Mar 16: Police today foiled an attempt of bovine smuggling and rescued 16 animals even as the accused smuggler managed to flee.
Patrolling party of Police Station Udhampur, led by SHO Chanchal Singh, intercepted the truck bearing registration number JK021E-1412 and during search, 16 bovine animals were found illegally loaded in the vehicle.
All the bovine animals were rescued but driver of the truck managed to flee. In this connection, case FIR No. 105/2021 U/S 188/ 11 IPC, has been registered at Police Station Udhampur and further investigation is underway.
