SRINAGAR : Undeterred by intermittent rains and cloudy sky, a new batch of 1,587 yatris, including sadhus and women, left Baltal and Nunwan Pahalgam base camps for Holy Amarnath Cave shrine in south Kashmir Himalayas,
Intermittent rains lashed the areas and the sky was covered by dark clouds since this morning, official sources said.
However, the pilgrimage was going on smoothly from both shortest Baltal and traditional Nunwan Pahalgam base camps.
They said 888 pilgrims, including 124 women and four sadhus, left Baltal base camp for the cave shrine.
Sources said 599 pilgrims, including 69 women and 27 sadhus, also left Nunwan Pahalgam base camp for the cave shrine.
Similarly, the pilgrims, who had night halt at different halting stations on the traditional track, also started their journey towards the cave shrine.
About 3.13 lakh pilgrims had paid obeisance at the Holy Cave since June 28. So far nine yatris have lost their lives due to health problems, including heart attack during pilgrimage 2013.
