JAMMU, Nov 7: The historic 150th anniversary of India’s National Song Vande Mataram was celebrated at various places, here today.
The celebration aimed to rekindle patriotic fervour and remind the younger generation of the timeless message of unity, freedom and devotion to the motherland embodied in the song.
The commemorative events featured special cultural programmes that included patriotic songs, speeches and performances by students, showcasing the legacy of Vande Mataram and its pivotal role in India’s freedom struggle.
In this regard, Government Dy SP Aman Thakur Memorial Degree College Kastigarh organized an introductory programme dedicated to the recitation of India’s national song “VandeMataram.”
Speaking on the occasion, Prof Koshal Kumar Mangotra, principal of the college appreciated the enthusiasm of the students and highlighted the importance of understanding the nation’s cultural and historical heritage.
Government Degree College Majalta organised a special programme. Speaking on the occasion, Principal Prof (Dr) Shalini Sharma highlighted the timeless relevance of Vande Mataram, describing it as “a sacred hymn that binds every Indian to the spirit of the nation.”
Government Degree College, Mahanpur commemorated 150 years of the iconic patriotic song “Vande Mataram” by screening the live telecast of the mass singing of “Vande Mataram” by Prime Minister Narendra Modi.
In her concluding remarks, Nisha Kumari, Librarian, explained the meaning of “Vande Mataram” and encouraged students to perform their duties sincerely in daily life and to contribute to the nation’s development by utilizing their knowledge and skills.
Government Degree College (GDC) Vijaypur observed two significant national events, the 150th year celebration of “Vande Mataram” and Janjatiya Gaurav Diwas, with great zeal and patriotic spirit.
The session, coordinated by Prof Ritu Bhagat (HOD Education) and Dr Gunjeet Mahiwal (Lecturer, Education) concluded with an interactive discussion among students and faculty.
Both programmes were organised under the able guidance of Dr Ashu Vashisht, principal GDC Vijaypur.

The students and faculty members of GDC Marheen attended the online programme.
On the occasion, college organized a special event to commemorate the life and contributions of Bankim Chandra Chatterjee.
The whole programme was managed in the college by IQAC, Department of Physical Education and Cultural Committee of the college under the able guidance of worthy principal Prof (Dr) Anupama Gupta.
To mark event, Government Degree College Kakryal, Katra, organised an awareness lecture in collaboration with the National Service Scheme (NSS) and NCORD (Nasha Mukt Bharat Abhiyan Coordination Committee) unit.
The programme was organized under the able guidance of the principal of the college, Dr Rajni Bhagat.
The faculty members who were present during the event included Dr Sajad Khan, Prof Shikha Bhasin, Dr Harmeet Kour, Dr Manisha Kumari, Bhushan, Dr Amreen and Dr Ishfaq.

In recognition of the historic importance and national significance a grand programme was organized at the premises of J&K Police Public School Miran Sahib.
Following the chorus, two students of the school Simon Singh and Radhika Choudhary of Class XII delivered speeches in English and Hindi respectively.
Rajeev Sharma, principal of the school also addressed the gathering, underscoring the everlasting relevance of Vande Mataram.
Principal expressed heartfelt gratitude to Sameer Sharma, DIG Armed Range, Jammu for his constant guidance, encouragement and support in making the event a resounding success.
A solemn commemoration ceremony was conducted today at Police Auditorium, Gulshan Ground.
The ceremony was graced by M K Sinha, ADGP (Hqrs) PHQ and was attended by officers and staff members of Armed Police Headquarters (APHQ), Zonal Armed Police Headquarters (ZAPHQ), Armed/ IR Range Offices Jammu and personnel of JKAP 8th Bn, IR 14th Bn, IRP 15th, IRP 18th and Women 1st Bn.
Among others, Dr Haseeb Rahman, DIG Traffic Jammu, Vinod Kumar, DIG IR Jammu, Tahir Sajad Bhat, DIG SDRF Jammu, Commandants of Jammu City Based Battalions SSPAPCR Jammu & students of Police Public School Jammu also attended the ceremony.
In commemoration of the 150th anniversary of “Vande Mataram,” the NCC cadets of 9Jk Girls Battalion, Srinagar, in collaboration with the PSPS GCW Gandhi Nagar Student Presidium, organized a series of activities. These events were conducted under the esteemed patronage of principal Dr Geetanjali Andotra and under the diligent supervision of Dean Student Welfare Dr Rabia Javed and Major Shivani Sharma.

As part of the nationwide celebrations, a unity run was organized by Government Degree College, Sidhra.

Baba Ghulam Shah Badshah University (BGSBU) also organized a grand event to commemorate 150 years of the National Song ‘Vande Mataram’.
In his message, Vice Chancellor Prof Jawaid Iqbal said, “Vande Mataram is not merely a song, it is the heartbeat of our nation’s identity. As we commemorate 150 years of this immortal song, let us renew our commitment to uphold unity, harmony, and dedication to the motherland.”
