Rajouri, May 26 : Atleast 1500 candidates appeared in entrance test conducted by Baba Ghulam Shah Badshah University for admission to 5 Engineering courses in the College of Engineering & Technology.
The candidates belonging from almost all the 22 districts of the State thronged at the three Centres located at Rajouri, Srinagar and Jammu to appear in the test today.
Under the security arrangements, the University conducted this Test for B.Tech programmes in Computer Science & Engineering, Electronics & Communications (ECE), Electrical and Renewable Energy (EREE), Information Technology & Engineering & Civil Engineering (CE).
It is pertinent to mention here that all the programmes are approved by All India Council for Technical Education and main reason behind tremendous response in the courses is due to the high placement graph of the pass outs.
As per details, admissions in these courses have increased from 125 in 2007, 167 in 2008, 216 in 2009, 243 in 2010, 246 in 2011 and 300 in 2012 and among the total enrolled, 299 have passed out from the institution and received their degrees in the First Convocation held in the campus on December 16, 2012.
Among the total passouts, about 70 percent have been absorbed in various Government, semi-Government and corporate sector.
Prof I A Hamal, Vice Chancellor expressed satisfaction over the overwhelming response of the candidates from all regions of the State and successful conduct of the test.
Prof Hamal said that the result of the entrance test shall be declared in June which shall be followed by Counselling of candidates for which students are advised to keep themselves updated by visiting the University website www.bgsbuniversity.org
