JAMMU, June 20: While conducting anti-encroachment drive, the Forest Department team from Jammu Forest Division today retrieved about 15 kanal of forest land at Upper Roopnagar here today.
Official sources said that Forest team led by Range Officer, Jammu Khushal Singh along with Block Officer Paloura, under the supervision of DFO Jammu Dr AD Singh dismantled two structures constructed by one Mohd Aslam, son of Abdul Gani in Compartment No. 3/P of Paloura Block at Upper Roop Nagar and retrieved back 15 kanal of forest land from the illegal possession of said encroacher.
The Divisional Forest Officer, revealed that on specific information the Forest team was constituted which carried out smooth and swift operation. The team initially faced stiff resistance but later the staff managed to handle the situation with the help of police.
The DFO claimed that 400 ft of fencing was done on the spot to protect evicted land. The field staff was also directed to ensure strict vigil in the area to prevent any further encroachment.
