JAMMU, Oct 1: The Assistant Returning Officers (AROs) have rejected 15 nomination papers leaving 142 candidates in fray for the elections to 26 seats of Ladakh Autonomous Hill Development Council (LAHDC), Leh, which were scheduled to be held on October 17.
With the rejection of 15 nomination papers, 142 candidates have remained in the fray for 26 seats, official sources said.
A total of 157 candidates had filed their nominations till September 29, the last date for filing the papers. Scrutiny of documents took place yesterday but since some constituencies were located in remote and far off areas, the full details of rejection of papers emerged today.
Tomorrow is last date for withdrawal of nomination papers by the candidates.
Election will be held on October 17 and counting on October 23.
