KATHUA, Nov 24: At least 14 people were injured, two of them critically, when a mini bus bearing registration number JK08-8053 in which they were travelling overturned in Billawar area of Kathua district this morning.
“A mini bus on way from Mahanpur to Riyalta turned turtle when reached at Nagal Nallah, resulting in injuries to 14 people,” police said.
They said that rescue operation was launched and injured were rushed to the Mahanpur Hospital.
Of the 14 injured, 11 were identified as Sham Lal, Ravinder Kumar, Kewal, Charan Dass, Sonika, Naresh Kumar, Angrez Singh, Surinder Kumar, Bua Ditta, Vijay Kumar and Uttam Chand.
Police said the driver and conductor of the matador fled after the accident. The eye witness said that the mini bus was in high speed and it first hit a wall and then a tree before rolling down. All the passengers except five were discharged after first aid. The condition of remaining five is also stated to be out of danger.
The Police Post Mahanpur has registered a case under section 279/337 RPC and started investigation.
