Srinagar, Nov 9: Police in a series of actions across Kashmir Valley have arrested 14 drug peddlers while a huge cache of contraband substances and cash of worth Rs 2.70 lakhs have been recovered from their possession.
In Pulwama, three drug peddlers were arrested from Gudoora Bridge and on their disclosure instant raid was conducted at the residence of one notorious drug peddler identified as Junaid Khurshid alieas Junni Katta, son of Khurshid Ahmad Dangroo resident of Zasoo Tahab.
“During raid brown sugar, huge quantity of poppy straw and cash Rs 2,70,471 apparently sale proceeds of drugs were also recovered from his possession,” police said.
Police said that apart from the said notorious drug peddler, 09 other drug addicts were also arrested in a series of actions. In this regard, a case vide FIR No. 305/2021 under relevant sections of law stands already registered in Police Station Pulwama.
Meanwhile, police at a checkpoint established on Tahab Road intercepted an individual moving in suspicious circumstances.
“During the search, 1200ml of Codeine was recovered from his possession. He has been identified as Bashir Ahmad, son of Abdul Ahad Ganai, resident of Tahab Pulwama,” police said.
He was arrested and shifted to the Police Station. In this regard, a case vide FIR No. 308/2021 under relevant sections of law has been registered in Police Station Pulwama.
In another instance, acting on specific information about drug dealings, police party Litter conducted a specific raid at village Naina Batapora area of Pulwama and seized 1Kg of Charas from the house of one Khurshid Ahmad Koka, son of Gh Mohd Koka resident of Naina Batapora. Accordingly, a case vide FIR No 112/2021 under relevant sections of law has been registered.
In Ganderbal, acting swiftly upon specific information, a police team led by SHO PS Kangan under the supervision of SDPO Kangan Yasir Qadri apprehended a drug peddler and recovered 140gms charas and 06 Kgs of Bhangpatri from his possession.
He has been identified as Mushtaq Ahmad Bajard son of Fazal ur Rehman resident of Laman Wangath. Accordingly, a case vide FIR No. 132/2021 under relevant sections of law has been registered in Police Station Kangan.
In Budgam, police at a checkpoint established near Hardpanzoo Crossing, intercepted two persons roaming suspiciously.
During the search, police was able to recover 220gms of Charas from their possession theywere arrested on the spot. They have been identified as Firdous Ahmad Sheikh, resident of Larbal Dassan and Nisar Ahmad Bhat resident of Harda Latina.
