UDHAMPUR, June 7: Police foiled an attempt of bovine smuggling and rescued 13 bovine animals besides arresting three smugglers, here today.
These bovines were being smuggled in a truck bearing registration number. JK03E-7773 and on way from Jammu towards Udhampur, which was intercepted by a team of Police Post Tikri.
Police rescued the animals and arrested driver of the truck, identified as Gowhar Koker, son of Ghulam Mohammad Koker. His two associates in the truck, identified as Bilal Ahmed Koker, son of Lal Din Koker of Batpora and Mohd Ismail, son of Saif Din of Khangan Kote, Kupwara, were also arrested on the spot.
It is important to mention that the same truck and bovines were earlier released in FIR No. 74/2025 of PS Jhajjar Kotli, Jammu and the court had clearly directed that these animals must not be transported outside Jammu without prior permission. However, these conditions were violated by the alleged smugglers.
In this case, FIR number 77/2025 under relevant sections of law has been registered at Police Station Rehambal.
