JAMMU, Apr 15: A 12-week proficiency course in fingerprint science commenced at District Police Line (DPL) here today.
Organized in collaboration with the Central Fingerprint Bureau and the National Crime Records Bureau, the course aimed at familiarizing the participants with fingerprint knowledge and the National Automated Fingerprint Identification System (NAFIS), a real-time and comprehensive fingerprint identification system that assists law enforcement agencies.
ADGP Headquarters/ Coordination PHQ, MK Sinha, attended the inaugural programme as a chief guest.
Addressing the officers participating in the programme, Sinha stressed the importance of active participation and dedication to the course, highlighting that applying the gained knowledge would contribute significantly to achieving the organizational goals.
Once the participants are trained proficiently, they would be capable to handle the fingerprint-related work, he said.
The ADGP Headquarters underlined that successful completion of the training would equip the participants to act as a force multiplier in fingerprint analysis, addressing the current shortage of experts in J&K.
IGP Crime, J&K, Dr Sunil Gupta gave a brief overview of the trainees and the course overview was presented by Dr Sudha, Director CFPB, with Manoj Pandith presenting the vote of thanks.
Total 40 officers, comprising three Inspectors, 6 SIs, 8 Head Constables, 22 Constables, and one lady official, have been selected for the course organized by the JKP.
Sarah Rizvi, DIG Trainings, PHQ, J&K, also attended the inaugural function.
