UDHAMPUR, Jan 29: Police foiled a bovine smuggling attempt at Motor Shed Nakka under the jurisdiction of Police Station Chenani and rescued 12 bovines besides arresting the alleged smuggler.
A police party of Police Station Chenani intercepted a vehicle bearing registration number JK19A-9727 for checking. During inspection, 12 bovines were found being transported illegally in a cruel manner in the said vehicle.
During enquiry, the driver disclosed his name as Jahangir Mohd Kasim, son of Mohd Kasim of Pernote, Ramban. The accused failed to produce any valid permission.
Accordingly, a case FIR No. 11/2026 under Sections 223 BNS and 11 PCA Act has been registered at Police Station Chenani and further investigation is underway.
