SAMBA, Apr 22: Ghagwal Police today foiled three bovine smuggling bids by arresting two smugglers and rescuing 12 bovines.
“Acting on specific information received from reliable sources regarding illegal transportation of bovines, a team of Police Station Ghagwal laid a Naka at Tapyal and signalled to stop one Mahindra vehicle bearing registration number JK02BN-2231 for checking. However, instead of stopping, the driver accelerated the vehicle but was caught by alert cops within a few metres away from Naka Point,” a police spokesperson said. He said on checking, 5 bovines were found laden inside the vehicle in an inhumane manner.
The Police Party also rescued 7 more bovines at Naka Tapyal when they were being transported illegally in an Auto (load carrier) bearing registration number JK14H-1929 and a Mahindra load carrier bearing registration number JK14G-5329.
Three separate cases vide FIR Number 56/2022, FIR Number 57/2022 and FIR Number 58/2022 U/S 188 IPC, 11 PCA Act were registered at Police Station Ghagwal and investigation started.
