119 booked for violation of traffic rules

UDHAMPUR, July 13: Police booked 119 offenders for traffic rule violations during the traffic week launched to curb the menace.
Based on the frequent complaints regarding accidents, jamming on National Highway especially during Shri Amarnath Ji Yatra and traffic congestions at other bottlenecks, a traffic week was launched by Udhampur Police.
Apart from educating the general public with regard to the traffic rules for their safety, all the territorial officers were directed to strictly deal with the traffic rule violators under law, especially overloading in the passenger vehicles commuting from far flung areas of Udhampur, two wheelers driven without wearing helmets, rash and negligent driving, driving in drunken condition etc.
Continuing this drive against traffic rule violators, 119 offenders were booked under the preventive sections of law for violating traffic rules during this week. The territorial officers were also directed to recommend cancellation of the driving licenses, route permits of the habitual offenders in this regard to teach a lesson to all others.
