118th Jayanti of Swami Laxman Joo celebrated with fervour, gaiety

Functions held at Jammu, Srinagar, Kolkata, Mumbai

JAMMU, Apr 25: The 118th Jayanti of great Shivacharya of Kashmir (Ishwarsaroop), Swami Laxman Joo Maharaj was celebrated with great religious fervour and gaiety today.
A large number of devotees drawn from different parts of Jammu and its outskirts thronged Kashmir Shaiva Institute (KSI) Mahinder Nagar here where a grand function was held to participate in the celebrations and pay obeisance to this great 20th century scholar and saint of Kashmir.
The function started with Guru Puja in the early morning which was followed by the religious discourses on the life history of Swami Ji and his contribution to Kashmir Shaivism especially in propagating this ancient philosophy not only in India but across the Globe by the scholars. They said Swami Ji was a living legend, an authority and proponent of Shaiv philosophy of Kashmir which he propagated throughout his life.
After Guru Puja, Prasad was served among devotees. Swami Ji was the last living master in the glorious Guru Shishya lineage of Kashmir Shaivism. He was a real jewel having profound and deep understanding of the philosophy and practices of Kashmir Shaivism.
Swami Ji spent his entire life in teaching the mystical tenets of Trika Philosophy of Kashmir Shaivism to the seekers all over the globe and he is considered as the Abhinavgupta of modern times. His contribution in the spread of Kashmir Shaiva philosophy worldwide is unmatched and he has made this philosophy as most sought after in the Globe.
The birthday celebrations were held at Swami Ji ‘s Ashram at Ishbar Nishat in Srinagar, Kashmir, Sarita Vihar, New Delhi, Jammu and Kashmir Sabha, Salt Lake Kolkata in West Bengal and Kashmiri Pandit Sabha Khargar Mumbai in Maharashtra.
