JAMMU, Nov 7: One hundred thirteen more cases of dengue have been reported in Jammu region, taking the total number of patients affected with the disease so far this year to 5430 in the Union Territory.
“With 57 more cases reported in Jammu district yesterday, the number of people affected with the vector-borne disease in the Jammu district has raised to 3361”, a health official said, adding, more than 90% cases have been reported from municipal areas.
He said the Jammu district is followed by Samba with 582 cases while 510 cases were reported from Kathua, 281 from Udhampur, 245 from Reasi, 130 from Rajouri, 136 from Doda, 59 from Poonch, 53 from Ramban, 19 from Kishtwar and 19 from Kashmir region. Thirty-five local cases have also been reported from other states and UTs.
The official further informed that a total of 29213 patients were tested for dengue this year till yesterday out of which 5430 cases were found to be positive. However, it is a matter of relief that only one death has been reported due to dengue this year.
He further revealed that out of 113 dengue cases reported yesterday, 99 were adults (59 males and 40 females) and 14 were children (8 male and 6 female). “A total of 483 patients affected with dengue were hospitalized and of them 396 were discharged after successful treatment while 75 are still under treatment in various hospitals across the UT ”, the official added.
