UDHAMPUR, Mar 22: Foiling two major attempts of bovine smuggling at Chenani and Majalta, Police rescued 109 animals and arrested 13 smugglers.
Reports said that a police party of Police Station Chenani, led by Inspector Pushpinder Singh under the supervision of Ahmed Shafi, SDPO Chenani, laid a naka at Motorshed National Highway and intercepted six vehicles bearing registration number JK03K- 5075, JK01AF -3819, PB11CL-9600, JK02BF -1322, JK19- 7597 and JK02CJ- 1473.
During search , 74 bovine animals were found illegally loaded in these vehicles without any valid permission. All the bovine animals were rescued and the smugglers were arrested on the spot.
The arrested accused were identified as Aashiq Hussain, son of Abdul Latief of Chanderkote, District Ramban, Yasir Ahmed, son of Gul Mohd Rather of Dalwach, Doru Anantnag, Muneer Ahmed, son of Mohd Sharief of Kashwan, Kokernag, Anantnag , Shabir Ahmed, son of Nazir Ahmed of Maitra Ramban, Riaz, son of Abdul Rehman of Bharat Nagar Udhampur, Asif Raja, son of Gul Mohd Magrey of Gund Bragam, Doru Anantnag, Mohd Altaf, son of Mohd Shafi of Kange Ramban, Rehmat Ali son of Siraj Din of Kalyanpur Kanachak Jammu, Nazir son of Jamal Din of Kalyanpur Kanachak Jammu, Reham Ali son of Benyamin of Kalyanpur Kanachak Jammu, Saif Ali son of Mohd. Mirza of Kalyanpur Kanachak Jammu, Mohd Mubeen son of Mohd Shafi of Dhraman Rajgard Ramban and Shabir Ali of Khanpur Jammu.
In this connection, cases FIR number 31/2021, 32/2021, 33/2021, 34/2021, 35/2021 and 36/2021, under section U/S 188 IPC 11PCA Act were registered at PS Chenani.
In another success, a police party of Police Station Majalta intercepted one group of 35 bovine animals which were being taken by the smugglers on foot towards Kashmir without any valid permission. All bovine animals were rescued even as the accused smugglers managed to escape.
In this connection, a case FIR number 22/2021, U/S 188 IPC, 11 PCA Act has been registered at P/S Majalta and further investigation of the case is underway.
