The Association said the returning students include a majority from Kashmir and will form the first batch of Indians travelling back from the conflict-hit region.
JKSA National Convenor Nasir Khuehami said the students will first travel by road from different parts of Iran, mostly from the city of Urmia, to Armenia’s Zvartnots International Airport in Yerevan. From there, they will board commercial flights to India.
He said most of the students are scheduled to arrive on March 14, while the remaining are expected to reach on March 15.
The students have already booked their flight tickets and are expected to depart for the Armenia border on Thursday.
Khuehami said the students will travel on Flydubai flights operating via Dubai before reaching Indira Gandhi International Airport (IGI) in New Delhi.
The first batch, comprising the majority of students, will travel on Flydubai flight FZ8124.
According to the Association, it had earlier approached External Affairs Minister S. Jaishankar and the Ministry of External Affairs (MEA) seeking safe transit and necessary permissions for students to use the Armenia land route, which currently appears to be the most feasible corridor for safe passage from northwestern Iran.
