JAMMU, Feb 14: A cervical cancer awareness and HPV vaccination campaign was conducted today at CHC Sohanjana, with 100 young girls vaccinated under the initiative aimed at preventing cervical cancer.
The camp was organized through the joint collaboration of Dr Ashutosh Gupta, Principal and Dean, Government Medical College (GMC) Jammu, and Dr Abdul Hamid Zargar, Director Health Services (DHS) Jammu. The vaccination drive was carried out by a team from the Preventive Oncology Unit of the State Cancer Institute, Jammu.
The team was led by Dr Kiran Bala, Associate Professor, Department of Community Medicine, GMC Jammu. A total of 100 girls in the age group of 9 to 15 years received the nonavalent HPV vaccine during the camp.
Chief Medical Officer (CMO) Jammu, Dr Harbaksh Singh, extended full support to ensure the smooth conduct of the programme. At the local level, Dr Vijay Sharma, Block Medical Officer (BMO), CHC Sohanjana, along with Pushpa Devi (LHV), Manjeet Kour (LHV), Pritam Kour (BAC) and other paramedical staff, facilitated the arrangements and mobilization.
The vaccination team included Dr Sakshi Manhas, Dr Simranjeet Kour, Dr Faizan Ahmed, Dr Fardeen Ahmed and Dr Bilqees, supported by paramedical staff members.
Dr Deepak Kumar, Medical Superintendent, State Cancer Institute Jammu, provided logistical support for the camp.
