UDHAMPUR, Mar 23: Police foiled a bovine smuggling attempt at Garh Samna Banj in Majalta and rescued 10 bovine animals.
Police team of Police Station Majalta, while performing naka checking at Garh Samna Banj area, intercepted a Tempo Traveller bearing registration number JK02AP -1157, which was on its way from Garh Samna Banj area towards Ramkot.
On being signalled to stop, the driver attempted to flee. The vehicle was chased by the police party, following which the driver abandoned the vehicle and escaped from the spot on foot.
During checking of the vehicle, 10 bovine animals were found being transported illegally in a cruel manner tied with ropes. Police rescued the animals and seized the vehicle.
In this regard, FIR No. 34/2026 U/S 223 BNS and 11 PCA Act has been registered at Police Station Majalta and further investigation is underway.
