1 killed 8 injured in road accidents

JAMMU, Dec 1: One person was killed while eight others injured in separate road accidents in different parts of Jammu region.
A youth namely Parshotam Kumar (26) son of Bua Ditta, a resident of Nagbani (Jammu) died on the spot, when the bike he was riding on was hit by a speeding truck on Jammu-Akhnoor Road at Domana area of city outskirts. The body of the deceased youth has been shifted to mortuary room of Government Medical College and Hospital (GMCH), Jammu, for post mortem.
Six persons were seriously injured when the Tata Sumo they were travelling in from Ramban to Jammu turned turtle at Bantalab area of Nagrota due to the alleged negligence of driver.
According to a police spokesperson, a Tata Sumo bearing registration No JK19-9538 carrying passengers from Ramban to Jammu turned turtle and fell into a 10 m deep gorge near new Toll Plaza in Bantalab area of Nagrota, this evening.
According to the sources, the accident took place due to the alleged negligence of driver of the vehicle.
A total of six passengers injured in the mishap, who were immediately shifted to Government Medical College and Hospital (GMCH), Jammu for treatment.
They have been identified as Noor Mohd Bhat (56) son of Ramloo Bhat, resident of Rajgarh (Ramban), Shajad Ahmed Lone (28) son of Gulam Mohd, resident of Banihal (Ramban), Gian Chand (50), son of Hari Ram, resident of Doda, Nidha Begum (25) wife of Shah Mohd, resident of Chanderkote, Speena Begum (22) wife of Shah Nawaz, resident of Rajgarh (Ramban) and Om Parkash (54) son of late Gagan Nath, resident of Chaka (Ramban).
A couple also received serious injuries today when the scooter they were travelling on was hit by some unknown vehicle at National Highway near Dayalachak in Kathua district. The injured couple was shifted to GMCH Jammu for treatment. They have been identified as Tarsem Lal (45) son of Tara Chand, a resident of Rakh Batali (Samba) and his wife, Babli Devi (40).
In all the cases the concerned police has taken cognizance of the matter and started investigations.
