1 killed, 6 injured as sumo plunges into gorge

DODA, Feb 15: One person was killed, while six others received injuries when the Tata sumo, they were traveling in skidded off the road and fell into a 150 feet deep gorge at Donadi area of Gandoh Sub Division, this morning.
The ill-fated vehicle bearing registration number JK06-6092 was on its way to Thathri from Nagni (Bonjwah), when it met with an accident at Donadi area on Gandoh-Thathri road, resulting into on the spot death of one person and injuries to six others.
After getting information, police team along with locals rushed to the spot and shifted all the injured persons to Trauma Hospital Thathri. Two injured persons were later referred to District Hospital Doda, where one of the injured failed to respond to the treatment and succumbed to his injuries.
The deceased has been identified as Jarnail Singh (38), son of Jia Lal, a resident of Nagni, while the injured have been identified as Fareed Ahmed (21), son of Sajjad Ahmed and Karan Singh (18), son of Kehar Singh, both residents of Nagni, Bhawan Singh (16), son of Saroop Singh, Alam Din, son of Allah Ditta, Syeda Begum (47), wife of Alam Din and Nasreena Bano (10), daughter of Mohammad Sain, all residents of Parshalla.
After completing legal formalities, the body of the deceased was handed over to family members for last rites.
A case under FIR Number 16/18 under relevant Sections has been registered at Police Station Gandoh and investigation started.
