Srinagar, Feb 17: Over 1.2 lakh students from Jammu and Kashmir appeared in the 10th standard annual examinations across 1,300 centres today.
As per details, over 65,000 students from the soft zones of Kashmir appeared for the Social Science paper, which began at 1:30 PM.
At the same time, over 61,000 students from the soft zones of Jammu division also sat for the exam.
The examinations commenced on February 15, with students having already appeared for additional subjects, primarily languages.
However, today marked the beginning of the general subject papers.
Regarding the number of examination centres, officials told ‘Excelsior’ that 1,341 centres have been established across J&K, including 672 in Kashmir and 644 in Jammu division.
Officials said that the examination was conducted in a smooth manner, with all the necessary arrangements in place.
Authorities also informed that, apart from students from the soft zones, over 18,000 students from hard zones will appear for the Class 10 exams separately. These include 3,500 students from Kashmir and over 15,000 from Jammu division.
For these students, the authorities have set up 241 examination centres, including 43 in Kashmir and 198 in Jammu division.
“In total, over 1.45 lakh students from both soft and hard zones will be appearing for the Class 10 exam across 1,557 examination centres,” officials said.
