Volleyball Tourney by District Police Jammu gets underway

JAMMU, Mar 15: In an effort to bridge the gap between Police & the Public, a Volleyball Tournament, being organized by District Police Jammu got underway at Rehal Stadium, Bishnah, here today.
The Tournament is being held under the jurisdiction of Police Station, Bishnah, under Civic Action Programme (CAP), in order to provide platform to the youths of the area to show their talents, in different capacities and sensitize them against the evil effects of the drugs and other criminal activities.
SSP Jammu, Dr Sunil Gupta was the chief guest on the occasion, while SP Hqrs Jammu, R C Kotwal, SDPO R S Pura, Surinder Choudhary, SHO P/S Bishnah/Arnia and other officers of Sub-division R S Pura were present on the occasion.
Prominent among others present on the occasion were Satish Bharti, Social worker and BJP Mandal President, Puran Chand, Kuldeep Khajuria, Vijay Kumar, Ramesh Lal, Ghan Sham Pandit, Kuldeep Raj, Naresh Kumar and Davinder Kumar.
“Under this initiative, District Police Jammu is making all out efforts to channelize the energies of youths to positive directions and create awareness about the drug menace to save them falling prey to the hands of the drug paddlers viz-a-viz to make the society free from drug menace. J&K Police in collaboration with local sports clubs, sports enthusiasts and associations is organizing these tournaments with a clear message to society that J&K Police is committed to have drug free society and look forward for their support and active cooperation of likeminded social organization to fight this menace which is eating up very vital of our society particularly youths,” said Dr Gupta.
In the inaugural match which was played between Ala Volleyball team and RS Pura Volleyball team, former emerged winner.
The winning teams will be awarded with a cash prize of Rs. 10,000 and a trophy.
