JAMMU, May 8: The Departments of Urdu, MCA and Sociology scripted convincing victories over their rivals in the ongoing Inter-Departmental Cricket Tournament, being organized by the Directorate of Sports and Physical Education, University of Jammu at Varsity ground, here.
Earlier, Urdu Department team beat Botany Department by a big margin of 75 runs. Urdu Department scored 146 runs in 10 overs, without losing any wicket. Asif scored unbeaten 69 runs, while Partap contributed 55 runs.
In reply, Botany Department managed to score 71 runs in the allotted overs.
In another match, Sociology Department drubbed History Department by 7 wickets.
Batting first, History Department scored 66 runs in the stipulated 10 overs, losing 5 wickets in the process.
In reply, Sociology Depart-ment chased the target in 6.5 overs by losing 3 wickets to win the match by 7 wickets.
In yet another match, MCA Department Team thrashed TBS by 8 wickets in an easy contest.
Bating first, TBS scored 90 runs in 10 overs, while in reply, MCA rode on brilliant 61 runs by Pankaj to chase the target easily in 8.1 overs by losing 2 wickets, thus won the match by 8 wickets.
