BARAMULLA, Nov 1: Defeating Singh Pora Sports Club by a solitary goal in the title clash, Surjit Club lifted the title trophy of the Baramulla District Hockey Championship, organized by Hockey Baramulla, here.
Earlier, both the teams fought hard to get the lead, but it was Gurdeep Singh of Surjit Club who succeeded in scoring a goal in 23rd minute of the match to help his side gain a much needed lead. Despite getting 6 penalty corners, Surjit Club failed to convert any of them into a goal, while Singh Pora Sports Club got 5 penalty corners without converting them into goals.
Janak Singh Sodhi, president Hockey Baramulla was the chief guest on the occasion, while Mohd Ashraf, secretary Hockey Baramulla was the guest of honour.
