JAMMU, Aug 8: 17th J&K State Sport Climbing Championship will be organized by Mountaineering Association of J&K in collaboration with Sprawling Buds ICSE School, Luxmi Puram, Bantalab Jammu on August 17 and 18, 2017.
About 200 climbers from various districts of the state including Jammu, Udhampur, Reasi, Samba, Anantnag, Srinagar,Badgam and Ganderbal besides Pulwama, Poonch, Rajouri and Doda will vie for honours in the two day competition. In case the participation exceeds 200 climbers, preliminary rounds of certain categories for Jammu district will be conducted a day earlier.
The competitions will be held in eight categories of Men, Women (born in 2000,1999 and earlier), Boys, Girls (born in 2001, 2002 & 2003), Sub Jr. Boys / Girls (born in 2004 and 2005) and Mini Boys / Girls (born in 2006 and after). Except for Mini Boys and Girls who will participate in ‘lead climbing’ only, participants in all other categories will compete both in ‘lead climbing’ and ‘speed climbing.’
National judge in sport climbing, Mitra Ghosh from Delhi will be the president of the Jury, another technical official from Delhi Paras Verma, a national Route Setter will be the Chief Route Setter of the competition.
