Sports promote camaraderie among youth: Slathia

VIJAYPUR Oct 7: Raya Women Volleyball team defeated Samba while in men’s section Gho Brahamna won the match by defeating Swankha team in the finals of District Level Volleyball Men and Women Tournament played at Gho Brahmana in Ramgarh.
Former Minister and State Secretary Jammu and Kashmir National Conference Surjeet Singh Slathia, who was chief guest at the tournament, presented winners, runners-up trophies and other prizes to the teams and players for their outstanding performance in the game.
Slathia expressed happiness over boys and girls giving their best to the game and said that the closely played finals will serve as inspiration to budding Volleyball players of the area.
He said the match played in the women segment proved that girls were second to none even in sports. He hoped that more and more youngsters will participate in the sports at various levels to leave their mark in various games.
The former Minister referred to the presence of huge number of sports lovers and said this depicts societal involvement in the sports, adding that such events will script a new saga of bonhomie and camaraderie among youth cutting all the barriers.
“That is what the players showcased in today’s events”, he said.
Slathia also congratulated the organizers for holding such an event, saying this will go a long way in further promoting sports in the area.
Organiser Ramesh Sharma introduced the players with the chief guest and gave details about the event and the participating teams.
Prominent among those who watched the matches included Ex Sarpanches Rampal Sharma, Kamal Sangral, Isher Singh and Raman Singh Slathia.
