Sport Climbing C’ship for visually challenged on Dec 7

JAMMU, Dec 1: The first Open J&K State Sport Climbing Championship for visually challenged and specially abled children will be organized by Mountaineering Association of J&K in collaboration with Takshila Educational Trust at Sprawling Buds School, Bantalab here on December 7, 2017.
About 100 climbers mainly from Jammu and some other nearby districts are expected to participate in the competition which will be conducted in lead climbing only on top rope. The competitions will be held in only two categories of open men and women.
The International judge in Sport Climbing and Joint Secretary of Mountaineering Association of J&K Shawetica Khajuria will be the President of Jury Sonam Sidharth, a senior climber and an executive member of the Association will be the organizing secretary of the competition.
The technical and logistic support will be provided by Indian Mountaineering Foundation North Zone Committee, New Delhi. The championship has been fully sponsored by Takshila Educational Trust which governs Sprawling Buds ICSE School, Bantalab, Jammu.
Takshila Educational Society under its social responsibility programme is committed to the promotion of adventure and other educational activities among the specially abled children and funds for the conduct of any activity for the benefit of these children shall not be a constraint, Rahul Sharma, Chairman of the Trust announced while interacting with the office bearers of the Association who had called on him for the sponsorship of the competition.
