JAMMU, Feb 26: Regis-tering an emphatic victory by (6-5) goals via penalty shootout over J&K Police Hockey Central team in the summit clash, SGPC Amritsar lifted the title trophy of the 4th Sant Gurbaksh Singh Danna Memorial Hockey Tournament, organized by Santpura Danna Charitable Trust, Guru Nanak Nagar, under the aegis of Hockey J&K at KK Hakhu Astroturf Hockey Stadium, here today.
Earlier, the players of both the teams displayed extraordinary soccer skills and showed composure and promise to make it (1-1) draw in the stipulated time. Sikander Pal Singh was the goal scorer for J&K Police in the 11 minute, while Harinder Singh netted the goal for SGPC Amritsar in 50th minute of the match. The match could only be decided through penalty shootouts, wherein SGPC prevailed over their rivals by (6-5) goals.
Simrandeep Singh, Deputy Commissioner Jammu was the chief guest on the concluding ceremony, while Attar Singh of Attar Sweets Jammu, S. Jarnail Singh of Peaks Auto, S. Joginder Singh and Updesh Kour Bali were the guests of honour.
The chief guest and the other dignitaries gave away the prizes to the participants including the winners and runners-up teams.
The winning team was presented with a cheque of Rs. 31,000 and the runners-up team was presented with the cheque of Rs 21000 as prize money.
The fair play trophy was awarded to Banda Singh Bahadur Hockey Club, Poonch.
Mohd. Hussain of J&K Police was adjudged as man of the match, while S. Gurkirat Singh of SGPC Amritsar was declared as man of the Tournament.
Prominent among others present on the occasion were Rajinder Singh Raja, Balvinder Singh, Advisor to Organizing Committee, Pritam Singh, Director Horizon Construction, GS Bakshi, General Secretary Hockey J&K, Inderpal Singh Munna, Harvinder Singh, Janak Singh, Paramjeet Singh and S. Sharanjit Singh Shunty.
The match was officiated by Jagjeet Singh, Joginder Singh, Karanjit Singh, Senapati and Satvir Singh (Tournament Director).
