Reasi girl tops Indian Army’s technical women merit list

REASI, Mar 2: Sunia, daughter of Sub Jagdev Singh Chib, a resident of village Bharakh of tehsil Pouni has topped the merit list of Women Officers Technical Entry (Civil Engineering) of Indian Army, the result of which was declared on February 27, 2018.
Ms Sunia takes pride in the fact that she hails from a small and remote village of far flung hilly area of J&K. Having inherited patriotism as legacy, she would be a third generation family member to wear the green uniform and first Woman Officer from District Reasi.
Her grandfather, late Th. Suram Singh Chib was veteran of JAK Rifles and her father is veteran of Artillery.
She did her schooling from KV No-1, Udhampur and ‘B Tech’ from Rajasthan. She cleared the Service Selection Board, Allahabad in November 2017 in the first attempt and has topped in the merit list for joining Officers Training Academy (OTA) which came out on February 27, 2018.
She joins OTA Chennai on March 29 and is expected to pass out as Army Officer in March 2019.
Her mother is a house wife who, like all the dedicated mothers, has a major role in her bringing up, grooming and motivation. She has elder sister Tania and younger brother Karan.
“The love for my country runs in the blood of my family. I took it as a challenge to wear the uniform which my forefathers have been wearing,” Sunia said.
