Players show class, composure to vie for top honours

JAMMU, May 11: Players of various sports disciplines showed class and composure in vying for the top honours in the ongoing Inter-Department Tournament 2016-17, being organized by the Directorate of Sports and Physical Education at Jammu University, here.
The Inter-Department Tournament 2016-17 is being held in the disciplines of Table Tennis (men & women) Badminton (men & women) , Chess(men & women) Carrom (men & women), Volleyball (men) and  Cricket (men).
In Carrom (Women), Mathematics beat Punjabi Department  by 2-1; Life Long Learning  Department got better of Geography  Department  by 2-1 and Geology Department trounced MCA Department by 2-1, while in Carrom (Men), Physical Education Department prevailed over Mathematics by (2-0)
In Chess (Men), LawDeptt outplayed MCA Department by 2-1 and Law School Department drubbed EVS Department by (2-0), while in Chess (Women), MCA  Department got better of Geology Department by (2-1).
In Badminton (Men), Physical Education Department beat Life Long Learning by (2-0) and MCA Department trounced Mathematics Department (2-0).
In Badminton  (Women), Geography  Department defeated Mathematics by (2-0), Psychology Department beat Physical Education Department (2-0) and MCA Department drubbed Geology Department by 2-0.
In Table Tennis (Men), Physical Education Department outclassed Life long learning by 2-0 and Physics Department beat Law Department by 2-0, while in TableTennis(Women),  Political Science Department drubbed MCA by 2-0 and Geology Department trounced Physics Department by 2-0.
In Volleyball (Men), Mathematics Department drubbed Geography Department by 2-1 sets with score (18-25), (26 -24) and (15-08), while Physical Education Department beat Education Department by (2-0) sets  with ( 25-22), (25-22).
The matches were officiated by Ravish Vaid, Vikas Karlopia, Vinay Manhas, Anil Kumar , Harinderpal Singh , Jai Bharat, PD Singh and Gagan Kumar.
The Tournament is being held under the supervision of Prof Avtar Singh Jasrotia, Chairman Campus Sports Committee.
