JAMMU, Sept 15: Sumant Pangotra, a final year student of Computer Science & Engineering at MIET became the only student from J&K to get selected in the prestigious Google Applied Computer Science (ACS) with Android facilitator program.
He was one among 100 odd students selected all across India to get trained by Google to help drive the Google ACS program at their respective institutions.
The ACS facilitator program is a novel initiative undertaken by Google to educate and train engineering students on Applied Computer Science through special hands-on programming assignments and exercises.
He was invited to attend a two-day boot camp organized in Bengaluru at the Google Headquarters in India where he went through the rigorous training on the program. His visit was fully sponsored by Google.
Sumant, who is also the student coordinator of the first Student Chapter of Association of Computing Machinery (ACM, USA) in J&K at MIET, was selected after a three-level screening and selection process.
As the Google ACS Facilitator at MIET, Sumant will be responsible for organizing workshops, trainings and small projects centered around the delivery of Google curriculum for developing key programming skills.
